BDYWR, LLC is a West Lafayette, Indiana-based deep technology startup founded in 2019 by Purdue University Professor Shreyas Sen to commercialize human body communication (HBC) technology developed at Purdue's SPARC Lab. The company's core innovation is Electro-Quasistatic Human Body Communication (EQS-HBC), which uses the human body as a secure, ultra-low-energy conducting medium for wearable and implantable device communication — operating at up to 100 times lower energy than Bluetooth. The technology enables touch-based data transfer, secure Internet of Body networks, and safe communication for medical implants such as pacemakers and brain-machine interfaces. BDYWR received STTR funding from the NSF and the U.S. Air Force, and was recognized in the Indiana Life Sciences Capital report. The company's technology was subsequently developed under the Ixana brand, which won two CES 2024 Innovation Awards and raised a $10M Series A in 2024. BDYWR represents the original vehicle for commercializing Prof. Sen's foundational body communication research.
