Anomer Bio

Anomer Bio is an early-stage biotechnology company developing a new class of small molecule drugs that target glycans — the sugar layer on the surface of proteins that governs how the body responds to disease. Co-founded by CEO Sophie James, PhD and CSO Marcos Burger Ramos, PhD, the company's platform focuses on reprogramming disease at the first layer of cellular interaction by preventing cells from producing disease-driving glycans. Anomer Bio's approach aims to unlock glycan targets for therapeutic intervention in immune and fibrotic diseases, areas where current protein-focused treatments have limitations. Based at the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst in the UK and backed by SOSV's IndieBio accelerator, the company is in early preclinical stages and actively hiring its first scientist to build out wet lab capabilities.
