About

Annapurna Labs is Amazon's semiconductor division, designing custom silicon that powers AWS cloud infrastructure, including the Nitro, Graviton, Trainium, and Inferentia chip families. Established in Israel in 2011 by Hrvoje Bilic and Nafea Bshara and acquired by Amazon in January 2015, it is now a wholly owned Amazon subsidiary and one of the world's largest fabless semiconductor companies. Every AWS server since 2015 uses Nitro hardware for networking, storage, and local NVMe, and Annapurna has delivered multiple generations of Graviton CPUs and Trainium machine-learning ASICs used by major AWS customers and services. The team's custom SoCs sit at the heart of Amazon machine-learning servers and continue to expand AWS compute, networking, and AI acceleration.
