AI Arena is a free-to-play, browser-based PvP fighting game developed by ArenaX Labs where players train AI models — not their own reflexes — to control their characters in battle. Founded in 2021 and based in Toronto, Canada by Wei Xie and Brandon Da Silva, the platform combines NFT-based character ownership with machine learning education, allowing players to iteratively improve their AI fighter's behavior through training. Unlike traditional fighting games, players do not directly control characters during matches; instead, the outcome is determined by the quality of each player's trained AI model. The game features on-chain asset ownership via the NRN token and is backed by leading venture firms including Paradigm and Framework Ventures. ArenaX Labs is also building a proprietary AI infrastructure layer that powers the game's machine learning environment, positioning it as a platform for both entertainment and practical AI skill development.
