AdMob was one of the first and largest mobile advertising platforms, founded in 2006 by Omar Hamoui. The platform enabled mobile app developers to monetize their apps through in-app advertising. AdMob attracted backing from Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners, and had approximately 140 employees before being acquired by Google in May 2010 for $750 million. Today AdMob continues to operate as Google AdMob, one of the world's largest mobile ad networks.
