Actelion

Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is a Swiss biopharmaceutical company founded in 1997 and headquartered in Allschwil, near Basel, Switzerland. The company specialized in the discovery, development, and commercialization of drugs for rare and orphan diseases, with a primary focus on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Its key products include Tracleer (bosentan), the first oral therapy approved for PAH; Opsumit (macitentan); Uptravi (selexipag); Ventavis (iloprost); and Veletri (epoprostenol). In January 2017, Johnson & Johnson acquired Actelion for billion, and Actelion's R&D unit was spun off as Idorsia, listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange in June 2017.
