Safaricom
Safaricom PLC is Kenya's largest telecommunications and mobile money provider, publicly listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Beyond its core telecom/M-Pesa business, Safaricom is an active corporate venture investor in Kenya's tech startup ecosystem: it launched the Safaricom Spark Venture Fund in 2014 (East Africa's first corporate venture fund), which invested in mobile-tech startups including Sendy, Lynk, Ajua, Eneza, iProcure, and Farmdrive. In 2023 Safaricom launched two additional investment subsidiaries targeting seed- and growth-stage startups, alongside the ongoing Spark Accelerator program.
