Yipes was a pioneer in Metro Ethernet and managed wide area network services, founded in San Francisco in 1999. The company provided fully managed Metro Ethernet, WAN VPLS, financial extranet, and internet services across 14 major U.S. metro markets plus London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2002, Yipes emerged as Yipes Enterprise Services before being acquired by Reliance Communications for $300 million in 2007. The business was subsequently sold to GTT Communications.
