Xensource

XenSource was an enterprise virtualization company founded by the inventors of the open-source Xen hypervisor, providing enterprise-grade virtualization solutions built on the Xen technology. The company developed commercial products enabling organizations to run multiple operating systems and workloads on shared hardware, delivering improved server utilization, workload isolation, and operational flexibility. XenSource rapidly became a leading vendor in the server virtualization market, competing with VMware's ESX platform. In 2007, Citrix Systems acquired XenSource for approximately $500 million in a combination of cash and stock, integrating the technology into what became Citrix XenServer and the broader Citrix virtualization portfolio.
