Wayport

Wayport, Inc. was a Wi-Fi broadband internet access provider founded in 1996 and headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company was a pioneer in commercial hotspot deployment, integrating wired and wireless carrier-grade network access across hotels, airports, sports venues, retail chains, McDonald's restaurants, and Starbucks locations throughout the United States. Wayport provided managed Wi-Fi infrastructure and enterprise-grade network services, enabling venue operators and telecommunications partners to offer branded internet access to guests and customers. At its peak, Wayport operated hotspots in approximately 28,000 US locations. In November 2008, AT&T acquired Wayport for approximately $275 million in cash, rebranding the business as AT&T Wi-Fi Services.
