Wave Motion Launch Corporation is an Everett, Washington-based aerospace and defense company developing a patented hypervelocity ground-based launcher called the Jet-Gun that eliminates the need for onboard rocket propellant. The company's solid jet launcher accelerates payloads using a ground-based rocket nozzle that fires a focused jet of solid particles, combining the compactness of gun-based systems with the thrust efficiency of rockets — without requiring a barrel. The technology has demonstrated launch velocities up to 700 m/s with payloads up to 90 kg. Wave Motion targets both defense applications (compact artillery with reduced acoustic and thermal signature) and commercial space launch (non-rocket orbital delivery at dramatically reduced cost). The company has received SBIR funding from the U.S. Army and support from the Office of Naval Research, and won the Army xTechPacific competition.
