About
The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) traces its origins to 1817 and was re-established in its modern form on April 12, 1991, holding its first trading session four days later. Today GPW is the largest stock exchange in Central and Eastern Europe, operating a regulated market for equities and derivatives alongside NewConnect, an alternative market for growth companies, and Catalyst, a market for corporate and municipal bonds. GPW itself became a public company in 2010, and in 2018 FTSE Russell reclassified Poland from an emerging to a developed market, the first such reclassification for a Central European country.
