Wanova

Wanova was an enterprise software company headquartered in Campbell, California, that pioneered Distributed Desktop Virtualization (DDV) — an approach to desktop management that bridged the gap between centralized IT control and locally-executed, fully-functional end-user desktops. Its flagship product, Wanova Mirage, enabled IT organizations to centrally manage a single base image while keeping a synchronized, bootable copy on each endpoint PC, eliminating the need for hypervisors and dramatically improving scalability over traditional VDI. Founded in January 2008 by Ilan Kessler and Issy Ben-Shaul — previously co-founders of Actona Technologies (acquired by Cisco) — Wanova was acquired by VMware in May 2012 and its technology became VMware Mirage.
