Connecting the unconnected with software-defined radio
Vanu, Inc. is a provider of wireless infrastructure solutions focused on extending cellular coverage to rural and underserved areas that cannot be served profitably with conventional technology. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Vanu Bose at MIT, the company pioneered the commercialization of software-defined radio (SDR) and was the first to receive FCC certification for an SDR-based base station. Vanu's Anywave platform decouples base station software from commodity hardware, dramatically reducing infrastructure costs and enabling mobile network operators to deploy 2G/3G/4G service in geographically challenging markets. The company has deployed networks across rural America, sub-Saharan Africa (including VANU Rwanda), and other emerging markets.
