Uhana

Uhana was a Palo Alto, California-based startup founded in 2016 that pioneered the use of deep learning and real-time artificial intelligence to optimize carrier mobile networks. Built on research from Stanford University, Uhana's software-defined approach reimagined the radio access layer — transforming the mobile edge into a distributed, cloud-scale datacenter rather than a traditional network. The company's platform applied predictive analytics and machine learning to improve video quality, reduce latency, and dynamically optimize 4G and 5G network performance at the edge. In July 2019, VMware announced its intent to acquire Uhana to integrate its deep learning-powered mobile network optimization capabilities into VMware's telecommunications portfolio.
