Trendyol is Turkey's leading e-commerce marketplace and the most valuable e-commerce company in EMEA. Founded in 2010 by Demet Mutlu, Evren Üçok, and Begüm Tekin, it operates across 36 countries including 27 EU nations, the UK, 6 Gulf countries, and Azerbaijan. Alibaba Group holds approximately 70% of the company as of 2024, having invested over $1.4 billion since 2018. Trendyol became Turkey's first decacorn in 2021 at a $16.5 billion valuation following a $1.5 billion funding round with investors including SoftBank Vision Fund 2, General Atlantic, and Qatar Investment Authority. The platform delivers over 2.5 million packages daily, serves 40+ million active users, and operates Trendyol Express (its own delivery network), Dolap (second-hand marketplace), and Trendyol Tech (AI and R&D division). The company has launched its own large language model and expanded into Gulf markets with warehouses in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
