Touco Lab started as Toucan in 2018 to help people with long-term mental health conditions manage money with support from family and friends. The London lab has worked with Nationwide Building Society, the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute, Northumbria University, Nesta, Money Advice Trust, and Fair By Design to build Open Banking tools for carers. In 2020 it launched Touco, an app that lets a designated carer monitor a relative's spending with safeguarding features that protect people in vulnerable circumstances while giving families peace of mind.
