Thrive Neuromedical, LLC is developing a device and IT platform to deliver therapeutic sounds to neonates to promote optimal development of cognition and language skills. Its egg-shaped speaker system sits in the incubator with a baby and, during wakeful times and at nurse discretion, plays a 20-minute carefully processed recording of a parent speaking or singing, following a prescribed, infant-directed program designed to help develop the neural connections that allow infants to recognize the speech sounds that make up their native language.
