This One was a London-based startup founded in 2021 by Martin Gould (Co-Founder & CEO, formerly Head of Product, Content Platform at Spotify) and Johnny Hunter (Co-Founder & COO, formerly a Senior Product Manager at Shopify). The company built AI-driven personalisation technology, starting with a consumer app that helped users choose the perfect movie to watch in under two minutes, before working toward broader AI personalisation at scale. This One raised between $500,000 and $1 million from investors including Sequoia Capital, 20VC, and Cocoa, and took part in the Sequoia Arc accelerator in 2022. Per Crunchbase, the company is now permanently closed, and its this.one domain currently shows only a placeholder "site under construction" page.
