Texture, originally launched as Next Issue in 2012, was a digital magazine subscription app produced by Next Issue Media LLC, a joint venture of Conde Nast, Hearst, Meredith, News Corp, Rogers Media and Time Inc. formed in Palo Alto, California in 2009. Often described as the 'Netflix for magazines,' it gave subscribers unlimited access to more than 200 magazine titles across iOS, Android and Kindle Fire HD, and secured $50 million in financing from KKR in December 2014. Apple announced its acquisition of Texture in March 2018 and shut the service down on 28 May 2019 in favor of Apple News+.
