Storx Technologies is a UC Davis spinout medical device company developing a noninvasive transabdominal fetal pulse oximeter to monitor fetal oxygen levels during labor and delivery. The device is designed to accurately detect babies' oxygen saturation in the womb without invasive procedures, providing clinicians with actionable data on fetal well-being and reducing unnecessary cesarean sections. Founded by UC Davis engineering professor Soheil Ghiasi and doctoral candidate Kourosh Vali, the company won the top prize at the 2022 UC Davis Big Bang! business competition and has received NSF STTR Phase II funding (,466) in collaboration with Florida International University.
