Stion Corporation

Stion Corporation was a San Jose solar-energy company that developed thin-film photovoltaic panels and turnkey solar systems. Founded in 2006, it manufactured CIGS thin-film modules in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, using a glass-on-glass, monolithically integrated solar-cell design. The company produced framed and frameless modules for residential, commercial, utility, and off-grid deployments, while Stion Energy Services supplied vertically integrated solar systems to electricity end users. Khosla Ventures was its majority backer. Stion ceased operations in 2017, attributing the closure to intense foreign competition; it closed its Hattiesburg manufacturing plant and was subsequently described as defunct.
