Specim Spectral Imaging

Specim, Spectral Imaging Ltd is a European technology firm headquartered in Oulu, Finland, founded in 1995 as a pioneer of hyperspectral imaging. The company manufactures and sells imaging spectrographs, hyperspectral cameras, and systems used across industries including agriculture, environmental monitoring, food processing, recycling, pharmaceuticals, and defense/surveillance. Its airborne AISA hyperspectral cameras have been used to monitor environmental effects of major industrial disasters such as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and in 2017 Specim launched the Specim IQ, the world's first mobile hyperspectral camera. In November 2020, Konica Minolta acquired Specim to become part of its sensing business, and the company retains its Oulu offices with roughly 90 employees as of 2024.
