Skience (The Athene Group)

Skience is a wealth-management technology and consulting firm headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, founded in 2001 by CEO Sanjeev Kumar and COO Kripa Shetty under the name The Athene Group. What began as a three-person technology-services vendor serving two clients grew into a platform provider serving roughly 100 wealth- and asset-management clients, with the company unifying its business lines under the Skience brand in 2018. Skience builds a digital client-onboarding and account-management platform that integrates with custodians, CRM, and portfolio-management systems — including a dedicated build for Salesforce Financial Services Cloud — to automate compliance workflows, forms, and account servicing for registered investment advisors and broker-dealers. New York private-equity firms Sagewind Capital and Berenson Holdings led an acquisition of the company, with additional investment from Insight Venture Partners and Salesforce Ventures.
