SimSolid was a Canadian software company that pioneered a fundamentally new approach to structural analysis, enabling design engineers to perform finite element analysis (FEA) directly on full CAD assemblies without geometry preparation or meshing — the most time-consuming steps in traditional simulation workflows. SimSolid's technology delivered structural analysis results in seconds to minutes rather than hours or days, making simulation practical during the design phase rather than only at the end. The software was designed for product designers and engineers who needed fast, accurate structural performance insights on complex parts and large assemblies. The company was acquired by Altair Engineering in 2019, and the product is now sold as Altair SimSolid.
