Sila Nanotechnologies is an advanced materials company pioneering next-generation silicon anode technology for lithium-ion batteries. Founded in 2011 by former Tesla engineers Gene Berdichevsky and Alex Jacobs, along with Georgia Tech professor Gleb Yushin, Sila developed Titan Silicon — a nano-structured silicon anode material that serves as a drop-in replacement for graphite and delivers significantly higher energy density, enabling faster charging and longer range in consumer electronics and electric vehicles. The company opened the nation's first automotive-scale silicon anode manufacturing plant in Moses Lake, Washington in 2025, targeting up to 2,300 tons per year of production capacity. Sila's technology has been commercially deployed in wearable devices and is being scaled for EV battery integration with major automakers.
