Secret Network

Secret Network is the first mainnet layer-1 blockchain to feature privacy-preserving smart contracts with end-to-end encryption, launched in 2020 and built on the Cosmos ecosystem. Using Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and advanced cryptographic protocols, Secret Network enables developers to build decentralized applications where all inputs, outputs, and state remain encrypted by default. The core development team, SCRT Labs, traces its research origins to MIT in 2015. Beyond DeFi and private dApps, the network is expanding into a confidential computing hub for Web3 and AI workloads, including SecretVM for running LLM inference inside trusted execution environments. Developers can use Secret as a privacy layer on top of other blockchains via Secret Bridges and the SNIP-20 token standard.
