Schmidt Sciences

Schmidt Sciences is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Eric and Wendy Schmidt and headquartered in New York City. The organization is dedicated to fostering the advancement of science and technology by identifying under-supported or high-potential research areas and providing funding, collaboration support, and regular convenings among grantees. Schmidt Sciences runs invitation-only programs including Schmidt Science Polymaths (awarding $500K annually), the AI2050 Fellowship, and AI in Science Fellowship, as well as multi-year virtual institutes across priority areas including AI and advanced computing, astrophysics and space, biosciences, and climate science. The organization has awarded tens of millions in grants, including $45M to narrow the carbon cycle knowledge gap and $18M for AI safety research.
