About
SavingStar was a fully digital, national grocery e-coupon service founded in 2010 by David Rochon. The company provided consumers with a paperless coupon system linked to grocery and drugstore loyalty cards across a network of participating retailers. When shoppers used their loyalty card at checkout, the eCoupon value was deposited into their SavingStar account to be cashed out via bank transfer, PayPal, Amazon gift card, or charitable donation. At its peak, the service partnered with over 100 retail chains representing more than 70,000 stores across the United States. The company raised $36 million from investors including First Round Capital, Flybridge Capital Partners, and DCM Ventures. In August 2018, Quotient Technology acquired SavingStar, and the program was officially shut down on November 30, 2020.
