SafeHeal is a clinical-stage medical device company established in 2015 and headquartered in Paris, France, with a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, SafeHeal Inc. The company specializes in the development of anastomosis protection devices for colorectal surgery. Its flagship product, Colovac, is a colorectal anastomosis protection device intended to reduce fecal contact at the anastomotic site following colorectal surgery, protecting the anastomosis to prevent the dangerous sequelae of anastomotic leak and postoperative complications. Colovac is designed to potentially eliminate the need for diverting ostomy in patients undergoing colectomy and to improve and expedite recovery. SafeHeal has received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for Colovac, European CE marking under MDR. The company was the first company created and incubated by MD Start, a medtech accelerator.
