The Root Network (TRN) is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain built by Futureverse (evolved from Centrality's CENNZnet), designed as core infrastructure for the open metaverse and web3 gaming. It uses XRP as its gas token via a partnership with Ripple and the XRP Ledger, and provides native NFT, fungible-asset, and decentralized-exchange runtimes without requiring smart-contract development. The Root Network was publicly introduced around 2022 and has remained operationally independent of the receivership Futureverse entered in September 2025, continuing to run its protocols and community projects.
