Room Key was a hotel metasearch engine launched in 2012 as a joint venture by six of the world's largest hotel chains — Hilton Worldwide, Marriott, IHG, Wyndham Hotels, Choice Hotels International, and Hyatt — designed to help travelers search and compare rates across member hotel brands directly, bypassing online travel agencies. The platform aggregated room availability and pricing across the founding hotel groups, offering a brand-owned alternative to OTA aggregators like Expedia and Booking.com. As a marketplace business, Room Key earned revenue through direct booking referrals. The venture operated for several years before winding down as the founding hotel brands shifted strategy toward their own individual loyalty and direct booking programs.
