About
Rockset was a real-time search and analytics database built for the cloud, enabling developers and enterprises to run low-latency SQL queries on operational, streaming, and event data at scale. The database was built on a custom fork of RocksDB (RocksDB-Cloud) with a converged indexing architecture that stored all data in row, column, and inverted index form simultaneously, eliminating the need for manual schema management. Rockset served use cases including real-time dashboards, personalization engines, and AI retrieval infrastructure, and was acquired by OpenAI in June 2024 to power its retrieval infrastructure across products.
