Robot Era

ROBOTERA (Beijing Robot Era Technology Co., Ltd.) is a humanoid robotics company incubated by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University and established in August 2023. It is the only humanoid robot company in which Tsinghua University holds equity. Founded by Professor Chen Jianyu — an assistant professor and doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University with a PhD from UC Berkeley — ROBOTERA builds fully in-house humanoid robots and dexterous hands, covering core actuators, joints, sensors, and software from the ground up. Its flagship products include the L7 full-size bipedal humanoid robot and the XHAND1 fully direct-drive five-fingered dexterous hand. With over 80% of staff in R&D roles, the team targets commercial deployment in logistics, manufacturing, and household applications. The company raised $452M across multiple rounds, including a $200M+ round in 2026 led by SF Fund.
