Radish Fiction

Radish Fiction is a mobile-first serialized fiction platform where readers consume premium stories in bite-sized episodes optimized for smartphone reading. Founded in 2016 by Seung-yoon (SY) Lee, an Oxford-educated entrepreneur, Radish pioneered a Netflix-style model for genre fiction — offering several free chapters to hook readers, then charging a small fee to continue. The platform focuses heavily on romance, paranormal, and sci-fi genres, and employs a team of writers (including experienced soap opera writers) to produce exclusive serialized content. Radish raised $3 million in a round including UTA and author Amy Tan, followed by a $63.2 million Series A led by SoftBank Ventures Asia and Kakao. In May 2021, Kakao Entertainment acquired Radish for approximately $440 million. The company had offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Seoul, South Korea.
