About

Qunar (去哪儿, meaning 'Where to go' in Chinese) is a Beijing-headquartered online travel agency and metasearch engine founded in May 2005. As China's first travel search engine, Qunar was co-founded by Douglas Khoo, Fritz Demopoulos, and CC Zhuang to expose opaque travel pricing and help China's growing middle class find and book flights, hotels, vacation packages, and other travel services. The platform aggregates inventory from hundreds of airlines, hotel chains, and travel agencies, enabling price comparison across the full Chinese travel market. In 2011, Baidu acquired a majority interest in the company for $306 million. Qunar listed on NASDAQ in November 2013, raising $167 million in its IPO. In October 2015, Qunar merged with Ctrip (now Trip.com Group), which holds approximately 45% of Qunar's shares. In February 2017, the company was taken private and de-listed from NASDAQ, becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trip.com Group. Qunar supports over one billion search requests per day and operates as one of the largest online travel platforms in the Chinese-language internet, serving leisure and business travelers across domestic and international routes.
