PreemptiveAI is a Seattle-based AI research company, founded in 2022 and incubated at the Allen Institute for AI's AI2 Incubator, building a biomedical foundation model that maps human physiology and predicts health outcomes. Led by co-founders Jamien McCullum, Leon Gatys, and Matt Whitehill, its technology extends photoplethysmography (PPG) signal analysis from smartphones and wearable devices to enable early disease detection and personalized health risk prediction. PreemptiveAI emerged from stealth in March 2024 backed by $6.4 million in initial funding from investors including Inspired Capital, Meridian Street Capital, and Precursor Ventures, and has a research partnership with Duke University.
