PixelEXX Systems is an imaging technology company developing ultra-small cameras for medical endoscopy applications, spun off from research conducted at Washington University in St. Louis. The firm is building nano-scale, multifunctional sensors capable of detecting changes in the internal structures of a cell, using light and sound to create accurate real-time images of a cell's inner structures and measure electrical-charge changes as those structures interact. PixelEXX is developing ultra-small, 80,000-pixel cameras roughly the size of a grain of sand (0.5 millimeter), enabling minimally invasive medical procedures.
