Pathward Financial, Inc. (formerly Meta Financial Group / MetaBank) is a federally chartered bank and financial services holding company headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Founded in 1954 as Storm Lake Savings and Loan Association in Iowa, the company rebranded as Pathward in 2022 after its parent sold the 'Meta' trademark to Meta Platforms. Pathward operates two core business lines: Partner Solutions, which provides banking-as-a-service infrastructure including payment card issuing, acquiring, digital payments, and tax-related financial services to partner companies and fintechs; and Commercial Finance, which delivers working capital, equipment finance, and structured finance solutions to underserved businesses. The company leverages its national bank charter to enable fintech partners and expand financial access to individuals and businesses that traditional banks underserve.
