Panthalassa is a Portland, Oregon-based public-benefit corporation building a planetary-scale clean energy platform that harnesses renewable wave energy from the open ocean to power AI computing and beyond. The company deploys autonomous, self-propelled ocean nodes that capture wave energy to generate clean electricity and run AI workloads offshore, transmitting data via low-latency satellite links. This approach expands energy and AI computing capacity without requiring new land-based data centers or power plants. Backed by Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel, Panthalassa raised $140M in a Series B round in May 2026.
