Otonomy, Inc. was a San Diego-based, publicly traded (Nasdaq: OTIC) biopharmaceutical company founded in 2008 that developed innovative therapeutics for diseases and disorders of the middle and inner ear, including tinnitus, Meniere's disease, and hearing loss, using a sustained-exposure drug delivery technology administered via direct otic injection. After lead candidates OTO-413 and OTO-825 failed to meet clinical trial endpoints in 2022, the company laid off its entire staff in December 2022 and its board approved a plan to liquidate, dissolve, and distribute remaining cash to shareholders.
