Food delivery beyond the big city
OrderUp was an online and mobile food delivery marketplace focused on serving non-urban markets and college towns underserved by larger delivery platforms. Founded in 2008 by Chris Jeffery and Jason Kwicien, OrderUp built a network of restaurant delivery partners in cities like Baltimore and Denver, as well as markets with large student populations. The company raised $7 million in a funding round led by Revolution Ventures in August 2014. In July 2015, OrderUp was acquired by Groupon for approximately $69 million in cash. The service was subsequently shut down when Groupon exited the food delivery business.
