Orbital Insight was a Palo Alto-based geospatial analytics company that applied machine learning and computer vision to satellite, drone, and aerial imagery combined with smartphone geolocation data to extract actionable insights about economic, environmental, and societal trends. Clients included hedge funds, insurance companies, government agencies, and energy companies who used the platform to track oil storage levels, monitor retail foot traffic, assess natural disaster damage, and conduct strategic defense intelligence. The company raised $132 million from investors including Sequoia Capital, GV, and In-Q-Tel before being acquired by Privateer Space in 2024.
