Open Access Energy

Open Access Energy is a South African energy technology company founded in 2021 in Cape Town that builds digital infrastructure for the country's decentralized energy transition. The company operates two core platforms — Energypro (advanced private energy management software for independent power producers and traders) and Amptera (a multilateral wheeling marketplace connecting renewable energy sellers with commercial buyers) — that automate wheeling transactions, manage PPA allocations, and handle municipal billing and metering across Eskom and more than 180 municipal grids. Open Access Energy raised $1.8M in seed funding and has scaled from a pilot in George to deployments across South Africa, serving IPPs, large energy consumers, and municipalities seeking to procure or monetize renewable power.
