Online Oceans is a UK-based maritime robotics company that designs, builds, and operates autonomous surface vehicles (USVs) called Scouts for persistent ocean observation and surveillance. The Scout USV is solar-electric, satellite-connected, and capable of operating for months at sea without a crew, surviving sea state 8+ conditions and self-righting under all circumstances. Scout is approximately 200 times cheaper than crewed research vessel time and can be deployed by a single person from any beach or slipway. The platform supports a range of payload modules including Scout Detect for maritime domain awareness and dark vessel detection, Scout Connect for subsea data harvesting, Scout Metocean for environmental sensing, and Scout Hydrotwin for AI-powered marine mammal detection. Online Oceans operates Scouts on behalf of clients and delivers processed data to secure cloud dashboards or via API, with pricing available on a hardware purchase or data-as-a-service basis. In April 2026, the company raised £4 million in a seed round led by Seraphim Space.
