Onavo was a Tel Aviv-based mobile data compression and analytics company founded in 2010 by Guy Rosen and others. It offered mobile apps that compressed data to reduce usage and provided analytics for mobile publishers to track app performance. In October 2013, Facebook acquired Onavo for a reported $100-200 million, making it the anchor of Facebook's first office in Israel. Facebook later used Onavo's technology for competitive intelligence before shutting down the Onavo Protect VPN app in 2019.
