Nostopharma is a pre-clinical stage biotech company based in Potomac, Maryland, developing small-molecule targeted therapies to prevent and treat pathologic bone growth. The company's lead program addresses Progressive Osseous Heteroplasia (POH), an ultra-rare genetic disease caused by inactivating mutations in the GNAS1 gene, as well as trauma-induced heterotopic ossification. Nostopharma's approach uses locally administered, small-volume, extended-release formulations of Hedgehog (Hh) pathway inhibitors to achieve therapeutic effect with reduced toxicity. The company has received SBIR funding from NSF and NIH and is a member of the Maryland Tech Council.
