Nextprotein

nextProtein produces insect-based protein, oil, and fertilizer from Black Soldier Fly larvae raised on otherwise inconsumable organic waste. Its dry protein powder and lipid products are used as feed ingredients for aquaculture, pet food, and other animal feed, while nextGrow frass is sold as a natural fertilizer. Founded in 2015 by Syrine Chaalala and Mohamed Gastli, the company aims to tackle land and resource scarcity by producing as much protein from 100 square meters as 100 hectares of soy. A 15-person team of microbiologists, technicians, and engineers operates from a Paris office and a 2,500 square-meter production site in Tunisia, with capacity expanding toward one tonne of protein per day.
