Nexilis AG

Nexilis AG is a Swiss medical device startup developing the Immediate Stabilization System (ISS), a proprietary platform technology designed to enhance fixation of pedicle screws in spinal fusion and other orthopedic procedures. The ISS applies an implantable polymer sleeve around a pedicle screw; ultrasonic energy then moulds the sleeve into the pores of the host bone, forming a strong and uniform bond that creates a denser bony environment before screw placement. This significantly improves immediate stability and reduces the risk of screw loosening—a persistent complication affecting an estimated 30–40% of spinal fusion patients with poor bone quality. In the U.S. alone, nearly 2 million pedicle screws are implanted each year, making the addressable market substantial. The scalable platform also opens pathways into trauma and broader orthopedic applications beyond spine. Nexilis has secured CHF 5.2M in funding, completed preclinical and in vitro biomechanical testing demonstrating significant improvement in screw fixation, initiated a preclinical study to support FDA submission, and built IP secured across multiple jurisdictions. The company is headquartered in Liestal, Basel-Country, Switzerland and selected for Venture Leaders Medtech 2025, the Swiss National Medtech Team roadshow to the United States.
