Nature Architects

Nature Architects Inc. is a University of Tokyo spinout that develops computational design technologies rooted in metamaterials and origami engineering to unlock new possibilities in manufacturing. The company's proprietary Direct Functional Modeling (DFM) platform uses shape optimization, simulation, machine learning, and generative design to discover geometries and structures capable of controlling physical phenomena such as deformation, vibration, acoustics, and heat—enabling components that are simultaneously lightweight, rigid, and multifunctional. Nature Architects serves clients in the automotive, aerospace, heavy industry, and consumer products sectors, and has collaborated with Daikin Industries, Mitsubishi Materials, Toyota Boshoku, Yanmar Ventures, and designer ISSEY MIYAKE. Founded in May 2017 by Taisuke Ohshima and headquartered in Tokyo, the company has raised multiple rounds including a Series B in February 2024.
